Berg Construction repaired a pond dam with a fish ladder in a hyper tight schedule with many environmental
restrictions for a private land owner. The job had a hard completion deadline due to permitting’s concern about
the preservation of the bog turtle habitat. Berg Construction had to remove the existing dam breach material and
install soil in 8” lifts to get the required compaction. During this process we had to maintain a stream bypass
system that included multiple pumps and coffer dams. Once the compacted material was installed, an HDPE
line was installed followed by a spillway area with Tri-Lock pavers lining the swale. During this installation the
fish ladder was being cast in place by a concrete contractor. Once the fish ladder was completed the area was
backfilled and graded to complete the project.
