Q: What do you do here at Berg? What are your typical responsibilities?
A: I’m a laborer, and I’ve been with Berg since April of 2019. My responsibilities include making sure all pipes are set properly and to correct grades. I also need to make sure that all inlet boxes and manholes are set and level.
Q: What is the main challenge of your role?
A: The most important thing to me about my job is that it’s done correctly and safely. The main challenge in my role is hand shoveling to find existing underground utilities.
Q: What was your career background before you joined the team? How did you get into the industry?
A: Before joining Berg, I was a top man on a pipe crew. Then, I became a pipe layer and also ran equipment for the crew. I originally got into the excavation industry from hearing about what my father did at work growing up.
Q: What do you enjoy the most about your job? What do you value about being part of the Berg team?
A: What I enjoy most about my job is that I get along with my coworkers. We can have fun while still completing the task at hand. I like being a team member with Berg because they treat you as a member of the family, not just as a number.
Q: Who do you look up to in life?
A: The person I look up to the most would have to be my father. He is always there for me, and he taught me how to be a great husband to my wife and father to my children.
Q: How do you like to spend your free time?
A: Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, going hiking, and taking road trips.
